Help Trapping/Neutering Cats

From a neighbor:

Hi! My husband and I live on the 2200 block of Maplewood and have been feeding several feral cats for about 3 months. Some of the cats desperately need to be sterilized through a humane TNR program offered by the SPCA. However, the appointments are booked through November for this free program. I would like to help these animals have a better and longer life, and wonder if there are any other programs that exist, specifically in this area, that provide free feral cat sterilizations, immunizations, and rent or loan traps. My husband and I are willing to trap, transport, and provide food/water to ferals in the area.

My response was Prevent-A-Litter in Carytown, but…

PAL does charge for sterilization, and I am looking for a free service that includes a trap rental. I have contacted the people from PetFix Coalition, Operation Catnip, and the clinic in Ashland. The one in Ashland charges about the same low-cost rate as PAL, and the SPCA and the first two mentioned before are all free. But, those free services (trap rentals, too) all have a waiting list that is booked until Nov. My goal is to get these five or more young cats trapped and fixed ASAP so they can live a better outdoor life. Is there a veterinarian that works pro-bono or someone that has a stockpile of small animal traps that will lend them without a fifty dollar deposit each?
