Package Stolen off Porch
A package was delivered to 2116 Rosewood yesterday around 1pm, according to a neighbor. By 3pm it was gone. The intended recipients would like it back, but aren't hopeful that will happen. The pattern of reported thefts from cars and porc
hes on Rosewood and Maplewood would seem to indicate that someone is walking up and down the street looking for things to steal by day and getting into cars by night. What's the solution to this? Security cameras? More police patrols?
An umbrella was stolen off of our front porch(2400 block of Maplewood)on Saturday during the rain. Very trivial yes, but it has made me remember to lock the door every single time I close it. It does seem someone is watching our porches very closely. As far as how to fix the problem I don’t know. I’m sure increased patrols would be helpful but how likely is that to occur?
Had a few plants and a rocking chair stolen off my porch over the past 2 weeks. Not sure what to do. Had my car stolen on Robinson/Parkwood last year. That was fun.
The strangest thing happened Someone swept off my front porch and watered my plants…
My car was ransacked the other night, but just a week or so ago, some emptied the ashtray on my front porch along with rearranged the porch furniture…
We haven’t had anything stolen, thankfully, but someone did recently cut the wire on the lights we have wrapped in our tree that is in the backyard :(
I had a large box that was taken off my front porch last year. I am sure it looked enticing given its size. But I wish I could have seen the perp’s face when they opened a box of malted barley, hops, and yeast
In July, My wife was driving back home on Idlewood and saw a guy on a bike with a ladder that looked like ours (we left it on our front porch). She drove by our house, saw it was missing, and chased the guy down! She yelled at him from the window, “Hey, you stole my ladder!” and the guy swore that someone told him he could have it. She made him put it in the back of the car and then drove it home.
These people are under the mentality that we are in their neighborhood and they are entitled to our stuff. They see us as victims and suppliers. Until we get smart, like the ladder lady, and stand up to them and put away our things, it’s going to happen. Have your packages delivered to work and yes, the beer making materials were a great loss.
Someone stole a package from our front porch. Since it was from Apple, I think they thought it was an iPad or something cool like that. When they opened it thy discovered that it was a photo book! They kept the box, but they laid the photo book on our top step – good thing it didn’t rain! I am glad they brought it back, but now I get my packages delivered to work. You can also leave a note on your front door that asks the UPS/FedEx delivered to not leave the package of you aren’t there.
LS: You seem to have come to conclusions about who, in general, is doing the stealing and who is being stolen from. Seems like some pretty inflammatory assumptions to me. Richmond is a city with 24% of its residents living below the poverty line. There has got to be some way to build commonality between the haves and have-nots
