The Cary and Meadow intersection just added another layer of intrigue with martial arts classes that are open to the public with a sliding scale fee.
We're opening some classes up on a donation basis for anyone who wants to train without making as large a commitment. Whether financial hardship or time constraints have held you back before, now's as good a time as any to get in the dojo and start learning, working out, and making cool new friends you can punch.
, show up at 1909 W. Cary Street (at Meadow and Cary) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays at 6:30pm for some traditional martial arts training. Classes run until 7:30pm on Wednesdays and 8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Every student works to their own level so as a beginner you won't be thrown in over your head. We'll warm up as a class and you'll start out by learning the first empty hand form and 9 basic kyusho targeting drills. From there classes alternately focus on pressure point self-defense, mechanics and foundational training, or sparring applications. As you advance you may also wish to join us on Mondays for Kobudo (weapons) training.
Suggested donations are $5 to $10. Uniform prices vary by size but start around $20, or you can just wear whatever's comfortable for you for working out. We have changing rooms on site. Bring a water bottle and be ready to get a workout.

The storefront hosting these classes is also offering donation-based yoga classes.
