2508 Grove Avenue
The victims were in the alley with two female friends when they were approached by two suspects. Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings. One of the victims hesitated and was struck by suspect #1 several times with a handgun. After the victims surrendered their wallets and cell phone the suspects fled toward Robinson Street. The suspects were last seen driving away from the area in a silver/grey Honda.Suspect #1:

The victim was walking on the west side of the street when she was approached by two female suspects. Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and repeatedly hit the victim on the head while demanding the victims’ purse. The victim yelled loudly and refused to give the suspect her purse. Two passersby came to the aid of the victim and the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.Suspect #1:

The victim was getting into his car after making a pizza delivery when the suspect opened the passenger door, displayed a handgun and demanded the victims’ money. After the robbery the suspect fled on foot east on Hanover Avenue.Suspect:

The victims were walking away from their parked car when they were approached by two suspects armed with handguns. The suspects demanded the victims’ belongings and the victims surrendered their wallets and backpacks. After the robbery the suspects fled on foot eastbound in the alley.Suspect #1:

1400 Randolph Street
The victim was riding his bike when he was approached by the suspect who was walking in the street. The suspect punched the victim in the head knocking him off his bike. The suspect then got on the victim’s bike and rode away. The suspect was later identified by precinct detectives and juvenile detention orders were placed on file for his arrest. On September 5, the juvenile suspect turned himself in at police at headquarters with his mother; he is currently incarcerated in juvenile detention.BURGLARY – (RESIDENTIAL)

Unknown suspect entered residence through unlocked front door and was in the living room when he confronted by the victim. The suspect told the victim he was checking to see if any one was home and then walked out of the apartment. Later, the victim discovered his cell phone had been stolen from a table in the living room. The victim did not immediately call police because he didn’t realize the suspect had stolen his phone.

August 1
Officer McGovern responded to the ABC store for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival the officer received a description of the suspect. The officer circulated the area and found the suspect walking in a nearby alley. The suspect was arrested for larceny and was also found to have a warrant on file for his arrest in Henrico County.August 3
Officer Warner was on bike patrol in the 1100 block of W. Grace Street when he saw two individuals drinking beer in public. As a result, the officer issued misdemeanor summonses to both.August 7
Officers Raina and Ronan responded to the 1500 block of W. Cary Street for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival the officers found a female juvenile shot in the leg. The officers and Major Crimes Detective Aeschlimann canvassed the area and located several witnesses. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of a juvenile suspect. On Sunday, August 8, the suspect was located in the Randolph neighborhood and arrested without incident. He is currently incarcerated in the juvenile detention facility.August 8
Officer Davis was patrolling the 1800 block of W. Grace Street when he observed a male passed out in the front yard of a residence. The officer determined the male was not sick or injured, but highly intoxicated. As a result, the male was arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail.August 9
Officer Lockard was on bike patrol in the 1800 block of W. Broad Street when he observed two males in possession of plastic soda bottles refilled with beer. As a result, both suspects were issued misdemeanor summonses.August 15
Officer Ronan responded to the 400 block of Temple Avenue to investigate an in-progress fight. Upon arrival the combatants had already left the scene, but the officer was approached by a resident of the block who reported his vehicle had been damaged by those who were fighting. Officer Ronan took a report of the damage to the residents’ car and conducted a follow-up investigation the next day assisted by Officer Geiger. The officers were able to identify and locate three individuals responsible for hosting a house party on Temple Avenue the night before that had led to the fight. As a result of their investigation, the officers issued the property owner a misdemeanor summons for maintaining a common nuisance.August 22
Officer McAuliffe responded to the 1400 block of Grove Avenue in response to call about a suspicious male looking into parked cars. Officer McAuliffe did not locate any persons on Grove Avenue, so he exited his police car and decided to walk through the area to check the surrounding blocks. In the 1400 block of Floyd Avenue he observed a suspect inside the passenger compartment of parked car. After the suspect exited the car Officer McAuliffe stopped him and the owner of the car was located. Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect had stolen an MP 3 player from inside the parked car. As a result, the suspect was arrested, charged with larceny and taken to jail.August 25
Officer Venable responded to the 1100 block of Meade Street for a report of vandalism. Upon arrival the officer was told that attendees of a house party had been seen vandalizing (writing graffiti) on traffic signs in the area. Officer Venable located the attendees and found some of them to be in possession of the same color markers used to vandalize the signs. Subsequent investigation led to the arrests of three suspects for destruction of property.August 27
Officer Truong responded to the 1600 block of W. Main Street to investigate a hit- and-run accident. Upon arrival she was met by the victim who told her he was sitting in his parked car when it was struck by a fast-moving black vehicle. The victim also provided the license plate number of the striking vehicle. Officer Truong conducted a follow-up investigation and was able to locate the suspect and the suspect vehicle in the 2000 block of Rosewood Avenue. Subsequent investigation led the arrest of the suspect for hit-and-run, driving on suspended license and DUI.August 30
Officers responded to the “7-11” in the 1100 block of Main Street to investigate an armed robbery of the business. Upon arrival the clerk reported that a male had entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money from the register. The clerk provided a description of the suspect that was broadcast to officers who were circulating in the area around the store. Officer Scott observed a male matching the suspect’s description and attempted to stop him, but the male punched the officer several times and attempted to flee. Other officers quickly arrived to help Officer Scott and the male was taken in to custody without further incident. A follow-up investigation by precinct detectives revealed that the male stopped by Officer Scott was the robbery suspect. As a result, the suspect was charged with armed robbery as well as assault on a police officer.Please continue to report graffiti, abandoned vehicles, lighting problems and other environmental issues to Officer Ward Kuper.
