Hey, as a beekeeper myself, I would love to have a Richmond feral hive. The best one I have now came out of a woman’s house, and I’m looking at getting another out of a house in Maymont. However, if Byrd was up to it, what would be really nice is to cut the tree 6′ below the hole, and 2′ above the hole and turn it back upright. The bees would never bother anyone, and you could keep a natural hive in the park. Just put a roof on it. Nice round roof with cedar shingles and a copper peak. Otherwise, let me know. The process to extract the bees is to split the trunk on both sides with a maul, and pull the comb out. It’s already been severly damaged in the fall, so it’s hard to say how it’s going to do.
