The Secret Garden Grows Up
You might recall the secret garden that was reported on briefly in a previous post. Well, it seems to be taking off. In fact, urban gardens are a big deal in Richmond these days. Richmond.com has a great article about the phenomenon. As for our fledgling community gardening effort, let’s see if we can find out how this garden looks so darned good, despite the heat and the drought, after the jump ( more pictures).









Working and reworking what was a pretty crappy piece of earth put the guerrilla garden’s time table back about a month. But there is about to be way more produce than I could possibly handle. 8 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, peppers of varying heat, cukes, tomatillos, and various squash and melons.
I don’t want the food to go to waste, and more importantly to me; I would love to share the fecundity with the hood. But how to disperse the goods?
