A Deer on Douglasdale
A resident of the 3000 block of Douglasdale Rd, just on the other side of Blanton Ave and the Vitacourse, witnessed this deer eating all the seed out of his bird feeder. He snapped three pictures with his cell phone. The other two, and some thoughts on the reason behind the deer’s migration into the Carillon neighborhood, after the jump.
It’s not often that deer are seen in this area. One could speculate that the drought has driven deer away from the river and up into our neighborhoods to forage for food and water.
If you’ve seen deer on your block, please speak up.

There are several deer who frequent Douglasdale. My brother lives in the Carillon neighborhood and comes and goes in the early morning, and he frequently sees them in yards on Douglasdale.
I used to carry papers in the neighborhood in the 1970s and saw a lot of deer and foxes up in Kanawha Trace.
