I live in the house attached to the Byrd Park Court house that is for rent. I think a couple of things are going on here with the disparity in prices. The owners of the Byrd Park Court house live in Maryland and I think their scale of what rent should be maybe a little skewed by prices there. It has just gone up for rent since a full restoration so is “brand new.” Then there is location. It does face the lake and is on the more desirable side of and farther away from Meadow. A block or two in the city make a world of difference when talking location. Whether they get $1650 for it is yet to be seen.
Thanks for the insights, Penny. I should admit now that I contrasted the rent prices to get more people to look at the listings and at this blog. As an avowed bargain hunter, those kinda things jump out at me. Of course, I do think Byrd Park Court is pretty special spot (stay tuned for another detail of your houses highlighted), and property values on the two sides of Meadow are very different. On the other hand, maybe that Lakeside house is just a heck of a bargain.
