Kids Fishing Fair at Shield’s Lake set for Saturday

The Kids Fishing Fair will be held this Saturday, June 5, from 9AM–noon at Shield’s Lake at Byrd Park. Local fishing experts will be on hand to teach children the basic of freshwater catch-and-release fishing. Co-sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Old Dominion Bassmasters and Green Top Sporting Goods, this program is free and open to all youth ages 5 to 15 accompanied by an adult. Bring water, snacks, sunblock, chairs, fishing poles and tackle. (Some poles and tackle will be available for use.) It’s Virginia’s Free Fishing Weekend, so no license is required!
