Trash Cans Arrive at Addison Footbridge
The footbridge that connects The Fan to Byrd Park (and vice versa) is frequently strewn with litter, broken bottles, and the occasional syringe. Until now, there has been no where in the vicinity to stash this trash. With a convenience store at one end and now a coffee shop at the other, garbage receptacles are more important than ever to make the the footbridge more hospitable.

After a recent Byrd Park Civic League (BPCL) meeting, guest speaker from the Richmond Clean City Commission, Darlene C. Mallory, received follow-up emails from BPCL members requesting trash cans to be maintained by the city and she complied with a quickness (they arrived in a day or two). Now, the increasingly popular passage-way will be better suited to serve as a gateway to the parks and lakes on one end and the dining destinations of The Fan.

Hopefully, these cans will be emptied by the city on a regular basis. If you see trash on the footbridge or within a block of these two bins, please help the garbage make it’s way to the trashcan.

How do we go about beautifying the Byrd Park side of the bridge? Is that city land or church land?
Bridge area is City right of way. The church property line is marked by the chain link fence.
perhaps more trash cans on meadow near the 195 bridge would be helpful too.
