This is Not a Pothole, but…

This pipe is terrorizing cars/bikes on Rosewood Ave.
This protruding pipe wrecks havoc on passing cars and especially bicycles. It’s in the Eastbound lane of Rosewood Ave at the Addison St intersection. In this picture, water pools in a depression in the road and the pipe rears its head like the Lochness Monster. Below that water, there’s another inch or two of pipe inexplicably protruding from the ground. I’m sure the City has the tools to sheer off so it would sit level to the ground, but I haven’t had any luck getting Public Works to address it. This thing has come up in conversation with a number of neighbors. Now, let’s see if we can get it resolved.
UPDATE: An orange traffic cone sat atop the pipe when I passed it this morning. A good sign, and fast!

This is not a Department of Public Works issue. However, I have forwarded the information to the Department of Public Utilities for their review.

Thanks Sharon. I actually only filled out one of those citizen request forms online, because I didn’t know what department to contact. I appreciate the prompt response and your help with this issue.
The protruding pipe is no longer. Channel 8 tried to get me to go on TV about it, but I didn’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill (any more than I already had). So, now I’m left with a nagging question: Is anyone else glad to see this resolved? I know it wasn’t my pet peeve alone, right?
I definitely am. My wife and I routinely make U-turns at this intersection in order to park at our house at 2221. Thanks alot, Jason.
Way to take civic initiative – Thanks Jason.
