A Complaint About UR Stadium
6 Comments »A news submission came in from Catherine who lives near John B. Cary Elementary.
Hello! I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that the sound from UR Stadium seemed unusually loud last night, and continued later than normal. I could hear every lyric of every rap song in my living room, and it continued until even after 9 p.m. Isn’t there some kind of noise ordinance that should restrict this, especially considering the time and the fact that it did not look like an official event, just a practice? I’d like to complain but don’t know exactly to whom to address a complaint. UR’s last game is there on Sat. so their days are
numbered. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Do any other readers out there have to deal with noise from the stadium? I would be curious to know about the stadium’s radius of obtrusive sound. For those of you living east of Fountain Lake, do you hear the stadium music on game nights? Post your comments here.

I live right behind the scoreboard on Maplewood. Even during games, if I turn my tv or music on it will drown out the stadium noise. Normally, though, I am out front enjoying the Kickers or the Spiders. Spiders only practice 2 nights before games at the stadium and 95% of the time there is absolutely no activity there. They have been great neighbors and I would much rather have an open field rather than 75 houses across the street. I am proud of the Spiders & hope they blast all of us away this Saturday with a win & some noise that Catherine can remember them by!
It’s good to hear they’ve been such good neighbors. While drowning out the noise with TV or music may work for some, try putting a baby to sleep with it – not so easy.
Well this was the last game EVER for the Spiders. Maybe one more as they are moving to The campus next fall. Only the Kickers to fill a vacant, underused city owned stadium.
I have heard the noise for years and when it is cloudy it is worse but this is a City and not western Goochland.
dude…you live in the city..and your complaining about a college football game..give me a tissue…
I grew up in the Carillon neighborhood and one of my favorite memories is being able to hear the announcer and the crowd at City Stadium from my yard. It reminds me of weekend afternoons and changing seasons. I’ve never been a football fan, but to this day, sometimes when the weather is nice and it’s football season, I will tune in to a random game on AM radio just for the memories.
Not too stir up anyone, but it seems like y’all are jumping on Catherine a bit harshly. She’s not complaining about the typical event at the stadium, but instead has taken issue with an event that was “unusually loud” and “continued later than normal”.
