There was also a car break-in on Rowland Ave at Maplewood early in the morning of 11/21. There had been an abandoned gold Lincoln Town Car parked there, without plates, for over two months. (The police had already responded twice and slapped those orange stickers on the windshield, however the City hadn't towed the car yet.)

Anyway, around 12:30 am or so someone busted in the rear passenger window and rifled the car, setting off the alarm (inconveniently right below my window). The police (to their credit) promptly responded after calling 911, and within a half hour had a tow truck taking it off to the impound lot.

To add to what Jason said, I would say to keep an eye out for abandoned vehicles and don't be shy about reporting them. Besides being visual blight and besides taking away our parking spaces, I'm thinking these cars could catch the eye of burglars as tempting targets. In this case my suspicion is the burglar deliberately targeted the Town Car, ignoring my car and the other cars on the street, because it was so obviously abandoned.
